Samantha Barrett is an emerging litigator whose appellate training and judicial experience provide a strong foundation for complex litigation. She is recognized for her thoughtful legal analysis, persuasive writing and disciplined approach to developing effective legal arguments.

Samantha Barrett is an associate in Dilworth Paxson’s Litigation Department and Appellate Strategy & Advocacy Practice Group. She supports clients in complex commercial litigation and appellate matters by contributing detailed legal research, persuasive briefing, and strategic analysis. Samantha is known for her meticulous approach to legal writing and her ability to analyze challenging legal issues with precision. She approaches each matter with intellectual curiosity and a commitment to developing work product that strengthens the client’s overall litigation strategy.

Samantha’s appellate training shapes the way she approaches every matter. Rather than focusing only on the immediate issue before the court, she develops legal arguments with an eye toward how they may be viewed throughout the life of a case, including on appeal. Her award-winning advocacy experience and extensive legal writing background enable her to distill complex legal issues into clear, persuasive arguments that support clients’ objectives and strengthen the overall litigation strategy. Whether researching novel legal questions or drafting briefs, she approaches each assignment with careful analysis, sound reasoning, and attention to detail.

Before joining Dilworth, Samantha served as a law clerk to Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Daniel D. McCaffery, where she gained valuable insight into how appellate judges evaluate legal arguments, analyze precedent and reach decisions. She also interned with Chief Judge Wendy Beetlestone of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and Judge Jack Sabatino of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, and completed litigation practicums with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Appellate Unit, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Civil Division and the City of Philadelphia Law Department’s Tort Litigation Unit. Together with her award-winning moot court and trial advocacy experience, these opportunities allow her to contribute a well-rounded perspective to client matters, helping litigation teams anticipate issues, refine strategy and develop persuasive advocacy from the earliest stages of a case through appeal. While attending Temple University Beasley School of Law, Samantha earned recognition as Best Oral Advocate in the regional rounds of the National Moot Court Competition, won Temple’s I. Herman Stern Moot Court Competition, served as a Staff Editor of the Temple Law Review, and graduated cum laude. She was also awarded the Lena L. Hale Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Temple Law community.
