Overview

The attorneys in Dilworth Paxson’s insurance group routinely represent domestic and international insurers in a broad array of complex matters concerning coverage, bad faith, reinsurance and related issues. In addition to representing small and large insurers in high-stakes litigation and arbitrations, the firm frequently counsels carriers on a wide range of claims-handling and strategic issues.

Dilworth Paxson’s practice has included the representation of insurers throughout the United States in state and federal courts, and in the London Court of International Arbitration. Our experience includes a wide variety of general liability, life-sciences, directors & officers, individual life insurance and errors & omissions claims. The specific matters in which our attorneys are or have been counsel include coverage claims for the National Football League Class Action concussion settlement; coverage claims for mass tort product liability claims involving Vioxx;^® OxyContin;^® Fosamax;^® vaccines and related preservatives; artificial flavorings; and breast implants; and coverage claims for numerous environmental and asbestos disputes. 

Dilworth Paxson’s attorneys are also experienced in representing domestic and international insurers in both ceded and assumed reinsurance and retrocessional claims arising from facultative and treaty contracts. Our reinsurance practice has involved disputes over allocation of underlying settlements, workers’ compensation, long-tail liabilities and capacity pool arrangements.
