Overview

Matt is an associate in Dilworth’s litigation department. Before joining the firm, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Barclay Surrick of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as an Assistant District Attorney at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, Matt specialized in appeals arising from the prosecution of police misconduct, frequently appealing lower court dismissals of charges brought against police officers for use of excessive force and arguing on behalf of the Commonwealth in the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Courts.

Matt earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He led the school’s team in the 68th Annual National Moot Court Competition hosted by the New York City Bar Association, advancing past the regional round and receiving an invitation to the finals in New York City. He also served as a legal writing teaching assistant and received an award for excellence in advanced legal writing.
