Overview
Sarah Gremminger advises clients on trust and estate matters that range from forward-looking planning to difficult disputes and guardianship proceedings. Her experience resolving contested estate and fiduciary issues informs how she approaches planning, helping clients anticipate complications, protect their interests and put arrangements in place that work as intended.
Sarah Gremminger is a partner in Dilworth Paxson’s Trusts and Estates Group, where she advises individuals, families and fiduciaries on estate planning and administration, guardianships, special needs trusts, post-litigation planning and contested estate and trust matters. Her practice extends from putting plans in place to representing clients when disputes arise over estates, trusts or fiduciary responsibilities. Working across that continuum gives Sarah a practical understanding of where ambiguity, changing circumstances and competing interests can create problems. She brings that perspective to planning and administration matters, helping clients address potential vulnerabilities early and create arrangements that are more likely to function as intended.
When conflict has already developed, Sarah focuses on understanding what is driving the dispute and what the client ultimately needs to accomplish. Trust and estate matters can involve significant financial interests alongside deeply personal questions about family, capacity, inheritance and control. Sarah helps clients separate the legal issues that will affect the outcome from the emotions and disagreements that can prolong a matter without moving it closer to resolution. She gives clients a realistic understanding of their options and the likely implications of each, allowing them to make informed decisions about when to pursue a position, when to seek resolution and how best to protect their longer-term interests.
Sarah has significant experience in guardianship proceedings in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where decisions can directly affect an individual’s independence, finances and care, as well as the responsibilities assumed by family members and fiduciaries. Before entering private practice, she clerked for the Honorable Matthew D. Carrafiello, then Administrative Judge of the Orphans’ Court Division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, gaining firsthand insight into how courts approach guardianship, estate and fiduciary matters. That experience continues to inform how Sarah evaluates cases, prepares clients for the realities of court proceedings and identifies issues that may influence how a dispute develops. Whether the objective is avoiding litigation or resolving a matter already before the court, she keeps the focus on reaching an outcome that protects the client without creating unnecessary cost, delay or conflict.
