The Honorable Nelson Diaz Honored at the Eleventh Annual Latino Trendsetter Awards

November 26, 2012 – Dilworth Paxson partner, The Honorable Nelson Diaz will be honored at the Eleventh Annual Latino Trendsetter Awards on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 6:00 pm at The Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City.

According to Juan Guillen, founder, and CEO of event organizer LatinTRENDS, “The Latino Trendsetter Award recipients proudly represent 51 million US Hispanics. They have each developed the mindset and characteristics of a leader. They maintain high standards in actions and deeds. They are influencing mainstream society while inspiring our youth, who will become tomorrow’s trendsetters.”

Judge Diaz was the youngest judge elected to the Court and the first Latino judge in Pennsylvania history. He served as a judge for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas from 1981 through 1993. Today, Diaz is a partner in Dilworth Paxson’s Litigation Department who concentrates his practice in the areas of litigation, dispute resolution, public housing issues, and government relations.

In addition to his legal practice, Judge Diaz served as the city solicitor of Philadelphia and was appointed by President Clinton to be the general counsel for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he focused on reforming public and mixed-use housing programs. He also served as a White House Fellow as special assistant to Vice President Walter Mondale.
