Matthew Whitehorn Receives Special Recognition Award from the Legal Clinic for the Disabled

Dilworth Paxson is pleased to announce that Matthew I Whitehorn, a Firm Partner, Chair of the Employee Benefits Group, and Chair of the Pro Bono Committee, has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 Special Recognition Award from the Legal Clinic for the Disabled (LCD). The Special Recognition Award is given to the person, nominated by LCD’s Board of Directors, who has shown outstanding commitment to people with disabilities and LCD’s work in the disability community.

The partnership between Dilworth Paxson and LCD continues to flourish because of Matt’s generous commitment to providing pro bono services in the disability community. Through his efforts at LCD’s Community Legal Outreach Clinics, many who would never have access to legal service are met not only with quality legal assistance but also with consistent enthusiasm and compassion. Matt has inspired many other Dilworth attorneys to join him in providing this vital pro bono work for LCD, as well as other organizations with similar needs.

The LCD is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation formed through the efforts of the Young Lawyers Divisions of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. LCD clients live with physical disabilities and, often, mental health issues that make it difficult for them to navigate the challenges of their daily lives, let alone solve complex legal problems. Through the Firm’s partnership with LCD, Matt has been able to meet the needs of scores of individuals and families in need of legal assistance.
