Overview

Maggie Barker Taylor is an associate in Dilworth’s Litigation Department, where she supports attorneys and clients in complex litigation, including employment matters, commercial disputes, election matters, trade compliance, appellate work, and government-related matters. She is regularly involved in legal research, briefing and motion practice, and pre-litigation analysis, and works closely with case teams to develop litigation strategy in fast-moving, high-stakes cases.

Maggie approaches each matter with a strong sense of ownership and an understanding of how her work fits into broader litigation strategy. She is known for managing complex assignments with precision and delivering analytically rigorous, strategically focused work product under tight deadlines. She is particularly interested in matters involving constitutional issues, election-related disputes, and public policy, where legal analysis intersects with broader societal considerations.

Before joining Dilworth, Maggie clerked at both the federal and state court levels. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chad F. Kenney of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and to the Honorable Ramy Djerassi of the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, Commerce Court.

Maggie previously worked and lived abroad in Mexico City and Cape Town, South Africa, experiences that provide her with a global and strategic perspective on diverse legal and policy issues. She also worked in Washington, DC, on international trade policy, including a fellowship with the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, Subcommittee on International Trade.

Representative Experience

  • Drafted portions of an appellate brief in an election-related dispute involving a local school board candidate, resulting in a successful outcome on appeal.
  • Played a key role in drafting an amicus brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court addressing constitutional and statutory issues.
  • Negotiated resolution of a trade compliance matter involving country-of-origin markings, including drafting a settlement agreement and amending the parties’ distribution agreement. 
  • Authored a policy brief for a local county government analyzing the feasibility of proposed legislation addressing firearm regulations.
  • Drafted briefing opposing a motion to seal court filings, resulting in denial of the motion and preserving public access to the record.
  • Advised nonprofit organizations and local governments on legal issues arising from executive orders and government actions.
