Overview

Barbara T. Ilsen is the Co-Chair of the Corporate and Business Department and Co-Chair of the Banking & Financial Services practice groups. Barbara specializes in the practice of corporate law, with an emphasis on complex business and financing transactions.

With a reputation for passion and responsiveness, Barbara represents clients in a broad range of transactions and acts as outside general counsel to businesses ranging from start-ups to large, closely-held companies. In addition to handling transactional needs, she advises her clients in connection with business organization, corporate governance, commercial contracts, employment agreements, real estate transactions, and succession planning.

Barbara’s finance practice involves the representation of both lenders and borrowers in lending and in loan workouts. She has extensive experience in commercial lending, real estate and construction finance and tax-exempt bond financings, and the workout and restructuring of troubled loans. Many of her clients are commercial banks, but she is also experienced in representing corporate clients in sophisticated financing transactions.

  • Represented lender in loans to fund the borrower’s purchase of tax lien certificates and receivables on unpaid property taxes that are sold by local municipalities in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and South Carolina.
  • Represented lender in multiple transactions involving the finance of delinquent tax liens for School Districts throughout Pennsylvania.
