Rich Orr represents insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation, including first party, general liability, and long tail claims.  He regularly provides advice to insurers seeking to avoid litigation.  Rich has represented clients in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York in a variety of matters including contract disputes, commercial litigation, products liability, and premises liability cases.

  • Represent several insurers in coverage litigation brought by a large telecommunications company seeking coverage for bodily injury asbestos claims.
  • Represented several insurers in coverage litigation brought by a Fortune 100 oil company seeking coverage for bodily injury asbestos claims.
  • Successfully defended an insurer against an order to show cause brought by a construction company seeking additional insured status in connection with a personal injury accident arising out of a construction accident.
  • Represented a latex glove manufacturer in products liability actions filed in federal and state courts.
  • Represented excess insurers in environmental coverage actions in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
  • Represented an engineering firm in a negligence and malpractice action arising from an allegedly defective road design that caused a severe automobile accident.
  • Represented a Fortune 500 oil company in a variety of premises liability actions in Pennsylvania.
  • Represented an excess insurer in connection with a Section 524(g) prepackaged asbestos bankruptcy action.
  • Represented an excess insurer in an environmental coverage trial that resulted in a jury verdict for the insurers, which was ultimately upheld by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
