Lorraine is an Associate in Dilworth Paxson’s Litigation group, representing clients in both civil and criminal matters in the Philadelphia office.

Immediately prior to joining Dilworth, Lorraine clerked for the Honorable Lavenski Smith, Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and for the Honorable Wendy Beetlestone of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. During her clerkships, Lorraine worked on a variety of complex civil and criminal cases.

While in law school, Lorraine competed with the Black Law Students’ Association’s Moot Court Team and served as a legal writing teaching assistant.  

Prior to law school, Lorraine completed a US Teaching Assistantship through Fulbright Austria. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of law and a B.A. in German Language and Medieval & Renaissance Studies with honors from Washington & Lee University.

Currently, Lorraine serves as a volunteer pardon coach with Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity, helping individuals obtain pardons from the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons.


Representative Experience

  • Counseled clients with respect to requirements and procedures for obtaining federal and state pardons.
  • Co-drafted motion for compassionate release for inmate seeking a sentence reduction to care for an ill and aging parent.
  • Co-drafted brief in opposition to plaintiff’s motion to compel discovery in legal malpractice action.
  • Co-drafted brief in support of preliminary objections in Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act case against a truck manufacturer.
  • Assisted in preparation of depositions for plaintiff injured by a defective picnic table at a camping ground.
  • Assists in representing building automation company in breach of restrictive covenants and theft of trade secrets case, through to preliminary injunction hearing.
  • Assists in representing Speaker of the House of Pennsylvania in challenge to the Commonwealth’s  school funding system.
  • Assists in representing relators in qui tam action alleging that institutional pharmacy defrauded state and federal governments by dispensing medications without a valid prescription.
  • Assists in representing charter school in Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) case alleging that school has not provided plaintiff’s child a “free and appropriate public education.”
