Matthew Faranda-Diedrich has represented companies and individuals in many subject areas, including banking, financial services, insurance coverage, RICO, class actions, bankruptcy, ERISA, biotechnology and construction and land development. Mr. Faranda-Diedrich has also served as counsel for directors and officers of companies, defending against civil and criminal charges.

Mr. Faranda-Diedrich has specific, and extensive, experience representing financial services companies. He has acted as counsel in both defensive litigation and in successfully prosecuting matters involving individual customers, as well as those involving both customers and program partners. Mr. Faranda-Diedrich has litigated to enforce finance agreement and leases on both a customer-by-customer and program-wide basis in state, federal and bankruptcy courts. These representations range from portfolios with individual defaults to those involving systematic failures.

Mr. Faranda-Diedrich has published articles on a variety of topics and he is a member of the firm's Hiring Committee.

Representative Experience

  • Represented an international financial services company in successful defense of proposed class action asserting claims of fraud, RICO and consumer protection law violations, De Lage Landen Financial Services, Inc. v. Rasa Floors LP, 792 F. Supp. 2d 812 (E.D. Pa. 2011) and 269 F.R.D. 445 (E.D. Pa. 2010).
  • Represented a construction company in the successful resolution of a claim totaling over $300 Million in connection with the construction of a professional sports stadium.
  • Part of team that obtained a full defense verdict for a governmental development authority on a $26 Million claim related to the development of an IMAX movie theater.
  • Participated in case obtaining partial summary judgment in favor of the directors and officers of Adelphia Communications on a potential claim exceeding $200 Million, and participated in subsequent defense of criminal indictment resulting in the dismissal of certain counts on double jeopardy grounds, United States v. Rigas, 605 F.3d 194 (3d Cir. 2010) (en banc).
  • Lead counsel in civil rights case involving prosecution of Constitutional claims in federal court, Miller v. Beard, 699 F. Supp. 2d 697 (E.D. Pa. 2010).
