John Higson focuses his practice in complex commercial litigation and business counseling. He has a broad background defending and prosecuting complex contract, government procurement, employment contract, and business practices disputes. John also handles securities litigation, RICO, bankruptcy law, and trade secrets matters.

Representative Experience

  • Represented state agency in various class actions challenging Medicaid and related programs.
  • Represented four separate Special Litigation Committees as lead counsel in litigation arising out of the sale of publicly-traded companies in transactions ranging from $1-4 billion.
  • Represented a technology company in multi-patent litigation against major cell phone manufacturers involving network connectivity and Local Area Networks.
  • Represented a national bank in a trust matter regarding the retention of a closely-held business in a family trust. Damages were in excess of $2 billion. Defense verdict obtained in Orphans’ Court and affirmed on appeal after a 15-day bench trial.
  • Represented an investment advisor in defamation action brought by a publicly-traded company. Defense verdict obtained.
  • Represented regional rail authority in dispute involving claims for design defects arising out of the reconstruction of an elevated rail structure.
  • Defending a public agency in a challenge to the award of a multi-million dollar construction contract.
  • Defending major production company and studio in injunction and defamation action arising out of the broadcast of new television program.
  • Representing managed care provider in litigation and settlement of class action related to coverage of Medicare claims.
  • Defending corporate officers and directors of a public company against numerous class and individual securities fraud actions.
