Jesse Silverman concentrates his practice on commercial and business litigation, consumer financial services litigation, and bankruptcy law. He regularly represents financial institutions in matters involving the Federal Truth In Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, predatory lending claims, and various state consumer protection statutes. He has also represented financial institutions, landlords, utilities, trustees, technology companies, investment funds, and individuals in bankruptcy cases and proceedings across the country.

Prior to joining Dilworth, Jesse worked at two large law firms in Virginia and Pennsylvania, and served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Blackwell N. Shelley for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained dismissal of a federal class action complaint against a lender and other parties alleging RICO and RESPA violations and numerous other violations of state and federal law.
  • Counsel to the purchaser of the cable television assets of the bankrupt Adelphia Communications Corp.
  • Represented an indenture trustee in the bankruptcy sale of assets of assisted living and nursing home facilities.
  • Represented an investment fund in fraudulent conveyance litigation arising from a private placement transaction with an oil and gas exploration company.
  • Advised lenders in connection with the bankruptcy of one of the largest facilitators and arrangers of tenant-in-common real estate investments, and obtained relief from automatic stay and related relief to permit restructuring of loans.
  • Acted as Debtor’s Counsel in Chapter 11 bankruptcy of a data hosting company and obtained favorable resolution of contract dispute with a key customer that enabled the company to pay all creditors in full and continue operating.
  • Obtained defense verdict in a bench trial of breach of contract and fraud suit against the seller of a small business.
  • Represented secured, unsecured, and executory contract creditors in the Chapter 11 cases of numerous national and international companies, including manufacturing, communications, mining, and financial firms.
