Chambers USA Recognizes Dilworth Partner As Leading Lawyer

Dilworth Paxson is pleased to announce that senior partner and Executive Committee member Lawrence G. McMichael, Esq. has been recognized as a leader in bankruptcy and restructuring law in the 2007 edition of Chambers USA: Americans Leading Lawyers for Business.

Described as an all-around great lawyer and one of the brightest and most creative guys around, Mr. McMichael is depicted by his peers as a master in handling difficult situations and people, and has the skills to litigate when necessary.

Chambers USA recognized Mr. Michael after he was selected by his own peers. Since 1969, Chambers and Partners has published world-famous guides to the legal profession which recognizes the strengths and reputations of attorneys as evidenced by independent research conducted by industry-trained research teams. Chambers USA covers all major areas of practice areas and is also widely used by firms in the United States for referral purposes.

Mr. McMichael is Chairman of Dilworth Paxsons Litigation Department where he concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and insolvency matters. He also has 29 years of experience in securities litigation and other complex cases involving criminal issues. He has over 29 years of trial experience in both federal and state courts, and has tried, as lead counsel, major jury and non-jury cases.

Mr. McMichael has represented numerous, high-profile clients in commercial matters. He is presently the lead litigation counsel for members of the Rigas family in more than 50 pending cases arising out of Adelphia Communications Corporation, and presently represents them in criminal proceedings as well. He is also counsel to Sanjay Kumar, former chairman and CEO of Computer Associates, in civil and criminal matters.

Mr. McMichael received both his J.D. degree and B.A. degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Duke University.
