CHERRY HILL, NJ – Harold G. Cohen, a partner in the Corporate and Litigation Departments at Dilworth Paxson LLP, has been named as the chair of the Safe America Foundation Philadelphia Task Force for its latest awareness campaign, "Drill Down for Safety." Former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta (national chair of the program) announced the appointment in Washington, DC. Safe America Foundation creates and implements safety awareness and preparedness programs across the country. "Drill Down For Safety" is the first post-9/11 program designed to create practice-drills on an annual basis. The event will be held annually on September 11. Businesses and local governments across the country will coordinate with FEMA each year to react to possible catastrophic scenarios, testing pre-arranged safety plans and encouraging employees to implement personal emergency preparedness drills. Cohen is in charge of creating a task force of private and public sector leaders to initiate and promote this program throughout the Philadelphia region. To learn more, visit www.safeamerica.org. Cohen previously co-chaired the Safe America Philadelphia Task Force facilitating preparation and recovery from an avian flu pandemic. In accepting his new position, he remarked that "our country suffers from a pandemic of complacency. We simply refuse to accept any personal responsibility to plan and prepare for disasters. Businesses recognize that commerce will be better served if individuals are also properly prepared. Safe America Foundation has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to engage corporate America in the process and value of being prepared – not scared." Cohen is a member of the Bankruptcy, Real Estate, Banking and Public Finance Groups at Dilworth Paxson. He is an active litigator in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts and often counsels clients entering business transactions. These include loans, mergers and acquisitions, and capital transactions, or those seeking advice with respect to day-to-day operations. Dilworth Paxson LLP conducts a broad and diverse regional and national law practice representing a wide variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to closely-held businesses, governmental entities, other institutions and individuals.
