Areas of Focus:

Associate, Litigation Department and its Bankruptcy Group. Mr. Shectman concentrates his practice on commercial litigation with a focus on construction litigation and bankruptcy. His practice includes litigating in federal and state courts, as well as alternative dispute resolution forums, concerning various contractual, lending and construction related disputes.  In addition, Mr. Shectman frequently handles creditor's rights, workouts and collections matter and represents a variety of clients including building contractors, commercial homebuilders, title insurance companies, sureties, lenders, consulting companies, and a local mass transit authority, and performing arts center.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Successfully defended one of the nation's leading luxury residential homebuilders in a deed restriction dispute with residents of a subdivision.
  • Represents a prominent general building contractor in a dispute concerning the construction of Lincoln Financial Field.
  • Represented a Mass Transit Authority in a dispute brought by the City of Philadelphia and a local citizens group regarding a proposed fare increase by the Authority.
  • Obtained a favorable settlement for a local performing arts institution in a dispute with its architect.
