Areas of Focus:

Associate, Litigation Department and Insurance Coverage Group. As a member of the Litigation Department, Mr. Chang litigates matters in state and federal court, including assisting clients in suits involving contractual disputes, defamation, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Federal Arbitration Act, and shareholder valuation disputes. As a member of the Insurance Coverage Group, Mr. Chang has served as counsel for major property and casualty insurers on a number of issues, including asbestos and long-term exposure and environmental claims.

Prior experience: Mr. Chang practiced at a class action firm in the areas of ERISA and consumer complex litigation and helped obtain several multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of retirement savings plans.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS:

  • Represented a corporate client in successfully obtaining summary judgement against a former employee's charge of Title VII discrimination in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

  • Represented a non-profit nursing home organization in successfully obtaining summary judgement in a real estate transaction dispute, alleging breach of warranties and seeking rescission of contract, in the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

  • Represented a close corporation in successfully obtaining summary judgement in a dissenting shareholder valuation action in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Ocean County.

  • Represented a hedge fund in successfully obtaining a stay of the federal proceeding and an order compelling arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

  • Represented a management company in successfully dismissing, with prejudice, a breach of contract action in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
